Bluedog

Bluedog

Bluedog is a new Bath-based band made up of four experienced musicians who have played, or still play, in other local bands such as The Electric Lobsters, Metropolis and Five Flights Up. Most recently, they came together as the powerhouse behind Galway Blonde, an extremely popular roots-rock band which brought the canvas down at last year's Bristol Community Festival. Now they're exploring their talents still further with Blue Dog, a band whose original compositions range from pop with a southern blues/rock bias to jazz and world music. They also like to play the odd cover with a few original twists. Drummer Steve Kingston and bass player Steve Hall have earned a reputation as one of the tightest rhythm sections in the west (see quote below) while guitarist Ian White and electric violinist Mike Fossett share a natural sense of melody and phrasing that leaves audiences humming and whistling their tunes for days afterwards. Currently recording a demo CD, Blue Dog is now playing dates in and around Bath and Bristol.

Recently, ill-health forced guitarist Ian White to leave the band, and he has been replaced by Nigel Johnston, a local blues-rock guitarist well-known around the Bath area.

"The two Steves make up one of the tightest, funkiest rhythm sections you will encounter; lan White plays the sweetest, melodic R&B-country guitar and Mike Fossett does things with a fiddle that I haven't even seen on the Internet." - Charley Dunlap, Bat
