Barbara J. Hunt is an original singer-songwriter, renowned for the clarity of her voice and the beauty of her award-winning songs. Her music is heart-felt and lyrical, a rare blend of passion and compassion, touching senses and spirit, mind and soul.
Now returning to live performance as a soloist, Barbara is focussing on producing an unplugged blend of guitar and vocals. She had a number of live appearances through 2003, including gigs in Somerset and Wiltshire, and a welcome return to Priddy Folk Fayre in the summer.
Barbara has many years of live performance behind her. Throughout the late 80's and early 90's, she performed regularly in London at such venues as the Mean Fiddler, The Finsbury Arms and Bunjees, as well as featuring at one of the capital's most famous folk venues, The Troubadour. She also opened for acts at some of London's most prestigious live music venues, including the Borderline and Hammersmith Odeon.
Since moving to the South West she is now re-emerging as a familiar face at many Arts Festivals and events. Barbara's song writing skills are reminiscent of classic Joni Mitchell and Carly Simon, while her pure voice has been likened to that of the late Eva Cassidy. Amongst other eclectic influences are John Martyn, Paul Simon, Carole King, Barbra Streisand, and even early Genesis!
Barbara's debut CD Amore Vincit Omnia is available by mail order at: P.O. Box 3571, BRUTON, BA10 0XN or via her website: www.barbarajhunt.com and she is planning to record a CD of her newest songs in 2004.
