Airs and Graces are Dave Merrick and Mike Forde. Together they play an infectious and eclectic mix of instrumental roots based jazz standards, blues and Irish music. They use twelve and six string acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin and Bodhran. They are now in their seventh year of gigging together and in November, will be appearing for the fifth year running at the Teignmouth Jazz Festival. They would readily admit to being 'children of the sixties' though their music stretches back way beyond that time, and includes material from Billie Holiday, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, as well as the blues of Reverend Garry Davis and Mississippi John Hurt, who are perhaps their earliest guitar influences. They also play their own original material and Irish airs, jigs, and reels.
