Singer, composer and guitar player born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Pepe Barcellos has poured his life into his music. In his album "Eu Vou Cantar" (1999) one can hear the joyfulness of his melodies and the excitement of Brazilian rhythms like samba, bossa nova and baiao melted with contemporary influences like funk, rock and jazz.
A graduate from the Guitar Institute of Technology in Los Angeles, Pepe studied with such masters as Joe Diorio and Scott Henderson. After his album release he toured all over his country. He was an outstanding musician at CD EXPO in Sao Paulo and the Independent CD Fair in Porto Alegre. In 2001 he released an album with Dread Lion, a reggae band from Rio. After that he developed a solid career as a soundtrack composer and in 2003 he was invited to teach a Brazilian Rhythms Workshop in Italy.
Barcellos is now finishing a new album featuring English musicians.
