Gypsy's Kiss have been playing together for many years. Though their music is Irish-inspired, they offer variety in playing and singing Scottish and English, Bluegrass and Country, with even the odd bit of rock 'n roll thrown in for good measure. Their love of music from traditional to modern is infectious. Many of you will remember the great nights when they used to play at Crocker's to a packed house, when they were known as The Boat Band.
Their brand of Guinness-flavoured folk is guaranteed to get your feet tapping to their lively jigs and reels. Dave Rowlands learnt to play the melodeon in the best Irish music pubs in London. He teamed up with Mike Edwards, who has been a stalwart of the Bristol music scene since the days of The Troubadour club. Mike's strong style of guitar playing adds the perfect rhythm to the powerful songs, which they both love to sing, which range from haunting traditional Irish ballads to rip-roaring choruses. They always vary their set and pull out different songs from the hundreds in their repertoire.
Stuart Gordon is one of the best fiddle players in the country, and he travels the world playing with some of the most famous names in the business. His cheeky grin just gets wider as they all tear into their stirring songs and reels. In the gentle ballads he can make the fiddle tremble with emotion.
Mick Ray is a talented fiddle player whose fluent style of Irish Scottish traditional playing is a treat to listen to. He has been playing for many years with Irish bands in Australia, and leads on the jigs and reels. He also plays keyboards on some of the songs.
This is a band who thoroughly enjoy what they play and do their utmost to ensure that you do too.
