Clumsy

Clumsy was formed when Joel Bobrucki (vocals/guitar), Jon Patchitt (bass/vocals) and Simon Patchitt (percussion/vocals) came together in the summer of 2001, driven by the shared goal of reviving creative songwriting and addressing important social issues through their music. Clumsy's unique acoustic sound comes from their use of percussion (bongos and congas) as a basis for their rhythm, as opposed to drums. This, together with three-part harmonies and strong lyrics, sets them apart from most guitar-based groups.

The band's sound is an amalgamation of different styles from various eras, marrying together blues, folk and rock with some subtle ethnic and reggae flavours - into their own unique brand of catchy, acoustic pop. Influences range from Nick Drake and Van Morrison to Brian Wilson and Stevie Wonder.

Building upon the success of their self produced 6-track demo, critically acclaimed as one of the best Bristol and Bath releases of 2002 in December's Venue, Clumsy have been forging a considerable fan base since their early days. The band started out in The Old Duke, and are now playing regularly in other well-known venuws in Bristol such as The Prom, The Louisiana, The Fleece, Fiddler's and The Croft. The band have also lately had success in some of London's more reputable venues, such as Barfly Camden (Monarch and Enterprise) and Sound Cafe (promoted by Talent Scout).

During December 2002 and early 2003, they have put together a new 6-track EP 'I Love MY Pony Exp', available soon.
